Našel jsem stopu Trifuna Kokoliče, neboli Tripa Kokoliji na http://www.artnet.com/library/04/0471/T047169.asp;
Kokolja [Cocoglia], Tripo [Kokoljic, Trifun]
(b Perast, Boka Kotorska, 28 Feb 1661; d Korcula, Croatia, 18 Oct 1713).

Dalmatian painter. It is probable that he studied in Venice.

His most important work, commissioned by the Archbishop of Bar, Andrija Zmajevic (reg 1671-94), was the series of paintings on canvas (end of the 17th century) in the church at Gospa od Skrpela, the islet opposite Perast. The lower band of paintings depicts prophets and sibyls; above them are the Presentation of the Virgin, the Death of the Virgin and the Descent of the Holy Ghost. The Coronation of the Virgin is above the triumphal arch. The ceiling is divided into 45 sections and depicts scenes from the Life of the Virgin as well as evangelists, Fathers of the Church, groups of angels and still-lifes with flower-baskets. These paintings combine the dynamic composition, figural expressiveness and bright colours of the Baroque with a provincial awkwardness in drawing and perspective. The paintings were badly restored in 1883 by the Franciscan painter Josip Rossi (1843-90).

Kokolja's portraits of Vicko Bujovic and Admiral Zmajevic and a Self-portrait are in the Perast Municipal Museum. His wall paintings in Archbishop Andrija Zmajevic's palace in Perast (1670; ruined) included landscapes.

Towards the end of his life he moved to Korcula. His paintings are in the Dominican church in Bol on the island of Brac and include the Apotheosis of St Dominic, Dominican saints and still-lifes, again with flower-baskets (1713). Kokolja is especially notable for introducing still-life subjects and landscapes into the painting of the eastern Adriatic coast.

Barok Tripa Kokolje
